At the 57th Annual 1st Cav Reunion, the 1/21st meeting was held after the Artillery luncheon. There were three old members who attended the meeting, pictured above are: RAY WILLIAMS, RANDY MITICHELL and JOHN KRIER. It was a poor showing of support for our organization. On the up side we did pick up three new members, two of them from B Battery, GORDON WEIDNER and RICHARD OBERSHAW, are also pictured. We also obtained a member who was the Battalion Commander of 3/21st FA in Germany 65-67. His name is ROBERT GILBERT (not pictured).
As you probably know, the next meeting is scheduled for Fort Hood, Texas in 2005 and then Louisville, KY the following year. If you call the 1st Cavalry Association, (1-800-234-9313), I'm sure they will be able to give you the time and date of the next reunion.
On a more sorrowful note, one of our members, JOHN CONROY, B Battery, passed away a week before the reunion. A floral memorial, per his son's request, was sent to the funeral from the men of the 1/21st FA Battalion. John will be missed. His son requested that his membership be continued in the 1/21st.
Another of one or our past members died three months ago, DENNIS KARVONEN. He was in B Battery.
