We held our yearly meeting, in conjunction with the 1st Calvary reunion, after the Artillery luncheon on Saturday the 14th of June. Members attending were Bob Barker, Ron Forest, Ollie Langford, Randy Mitchell, Bert Pence, John Rike, Joe Scarborough, Richard Sweat, Ernie Terrell, John Wagner, Joe Price and John Krier. Other members who signed in on the roster in the Reunion room but did not attend the meeting were: Bill Magie and Larry Guthrie. Another member was seen at the Reunion banquet, John Schripf. We also picked up a new member who had signed the roster in the Reunion room, his name is: Joe Sanchez, who was in A Battery in 1967.
This Years turnout was pretty small, but we appreciate all those who did show up. It would be nice if all of our members would attend our meetings so that we could get everyone's' input.
It was good to see everyone again - we were especially glad to have Colonel Terrell and Allene with us this year.
At our meeting, it was decided to discontinue the pocket crest permenantly even though some of the crests were requested. A patch making company had furnished some sample 1st Calvary patches with the words LZ Falcon down the middle where the stripe is on the patch. Some of our members requested a number of these patches. It was also decided that John Krier would continue to sell our caps and if other members wanted the LZ Falcon 1st Calvary patches, he would acquire them for members requesting them for members requesting them.
Members that are delinquent in their dues will not be deleted from the roster right away. They will be carried separately for a time. They will not be furnished a new revised roster if their membership has expired. Members, who are going to become delinquent in their membership, are notified by email, letter and phone calls. You can send your membership for future years if you wish. A current roster will be furnished when you renew your membership. Bumper stickers will be sent also, as long as they last.
A reminder- next year the reunion is in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We will try to send a newsletter, email, or both, reminding our members of the date and hotel so that you can get your reservations early enough to stay in the hotel where the reunion will be held. The information at hand, the date of the next reunion is from 9-13 June, at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel by the Airport. Cost of rooms $70 plus tax, telephone 800-558-3862. Tell them that you are with the 1st Cav reunion.
